‘Knock quietly, I’m meant to be on diet’: Just Eat customer’s hilarious takeaway request goes viral

We’ve all been there – caving in and ordering a takeaway when you’re supposed to be cutting down.

Whether it’s a cheeky pepperoni pizza or even a sweet treat, sometimes temptation can get the better of us. We’re human after all. And this week, Eston takeaway Munchies was left with a hilarious restaurant note on one of its Just Eat orders – asking them to deliver quietly as they were meant to be shedding the pounds.

The order contained a Texas BBQ nine-inch standard pizza alongside a Dr Pepper drink and a create-your-own waffle – of which the customer had gone for double chocolate ice cream and chocolate sauce. Slightly above the order information, the brilliant note was left: “Knock quietly, I’m supposed to be on a diet.”

Munchies, on Eston High Street, took a photo of the £15.99 bill and uploaded it to Facebook, saying: “Your secret is safe with us.” The post was seen and liked by thousands, prompting the venue to later joke: “We don’t think this delivery is a secret anymore.”

Owner Waseem told Teesside Live: “It’s gone mad! When we saw it in the shop I thought it was funny. We just laughed when it came in. I’ve had to put my phone on mute as the notifications have been going mad.

“There have been people from Birmingham and Surrey even commenting on it!” As of Wednesday evening, the original post had reached 767,024 people and had 771,705 impressions.

Waseem said that he had been back in touch with the customer who placed the order, asking if he wanted to “reveal himself”. However, he said the punter opted to keep things hidden – because he didn’t want his other half to know.
