Redcar and Cleveland Council say that, following a rigorous testing phase, the lake has retained water and can be reopened to the public
Works to repair regular leaks have been completed at Redcar’s much-loved historic boating lake.
The 100-year-old lake, a cherished part of the town’s heritage and a favourite spot for generations of residents and visitors, has been brought back to life after years of problems. A specialist contractor has been investigating why the structure in Coatham had been leaking water, and the complex repairs are now complete.
Cllr Alec Brown, Leader of the Council, said: “We’re proud to have brought the much-loved, 100-year-old Boating Lake back to life for residents and visitors to enjoy. We’d like to thank everyone for their patience and support while the specialist contractor carried out the repairs.”
